Social media company X (formerly known as Twitter) has offered monthly fee-paying users the option to hide blue ticks.
The Elon Musk-owned company introduced the Twitter Blue subscription program in late 2022, offering blue ticks to users for a monthly fee.
Now this subscription program has been renamed as XBlue and some changes have been made.
According to XBlue’s help page, users who pay a monthly fee can hide their BlueTick, after which it will no longer appear in profiles and posts.
However, this sign of account verification may appear in some places, while hiding it may also result in loss of access to some features.
The company did not specify which features could be removed by hiding the blue tick.
It is also not clear why users are being given the option to hide the blue tick.
This option is located in the Profile customization section of the account settings.
The feature was in the works since March 2023 and was pointed out in a tweet by a user of the social media platform at the time.
Note that in April 2023, the company has discontinued the free Blue Ticks that were previously available to accounts.
XBlue users have access to 25,000 character posts, upload up to 3 hours of video and other exclusive features.
