This new generation internet service is capable of transmitting 1.2 Terabit (TB) or 1200 Gigabit (GB) data every second.
More than 3 thousand km of optical fiber cable has been laid for this internet service and it was introduced on November 13.
Earlier, it was believed that such a high-speed internet service could not be introduced anywhere in the world before 2025.
In most parts of the world, 100 Gb/s data transmission is still possible, while in some places in the US, fifth generation Internet speeds reach 400 Gb/s.
But China’s new service is so fast that it is possible to send or download 150 HD movies per second, which is more than 3 times faster than the US service.
China’s Future Internet Technology Infrastructure (FITI) project has introduced the fastest Internet service, dubbed the backbone network.
FITI is being worked on for 10 years.
Wu Jianping, head of the project, said that the fastest internet service has not only proved to be successful, but it has provided China with the latest technology to develop even faster internet service.
Backbone networks are also important for electric vehicles and sectors where industrial 5G technology is being used.
According to officials, the system’s software and hardware have been developed locally, which has led to expectations that in the near future there will be no need to rely on the US and Japan for Internet technology components.
