In June 2023, Meta created a Telegram channels-like feature called Broadcast Channels as part of Instagram.
Following this, the Channels feature in WhatsApp was introduced globally in September.
Now the company has announced to introduce this feature in Facebook and Messenger as well.
Meta said in a blog post that the channels feature will be available to users on Facebook and Messenger in the coming weeks.
On Instagram and WhatsApp, users can share text, photos, videos, stickers and polls with a large number of people through channels.
Channels can be followed by people but cannot be posted on it.
According to Meta, the feature on Facebook will be available for Pages and is currently being tested among users who run Pages on the social media platform.
The feature of Instagram and WhatsApp channels is quite popular which gives people an opportunity to learn about their favorite topics or keep track of updates from famous personalities.
The number of followers of different personality channels on WhatsApp and Instagram is in crores.
Seeing the popularity of this feature, Meta has decided to make it a part of its largest social media platform.
This is not the first time that Meta has made a popular feature of a social media platform part of its app.
Earlier, features like Snapchat’s stories and Tik Tok’s short videos have also become part of Meta’s apps.
